Online Therapy South Carolina — a calm, light-filled home space with a laptop by a sunlit window

Online therapy for adults and couples across South Carolina

I provide secure online therapy and telehealth counseling for adult individuals and couples across South Carolina. If you are physically in South Carolina at the time of the session, we can meet by secure video whether you’re in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, the Lowcountry, or a smaller community farther from specialty care.

My online practice focuses on trauma, betrayal trauma, sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior, couples and relationship distress, depression, anxiety, grief, addiction, and recovery after narcissistic abuse. Many clients reach out because they want specialized care, privacy, and convenience without making the drive to Mount Pleasant.

This page is informational and educational. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or a substitute for emergency care or for working with a clinician who knows your full history.

Why work with Jeff Marcino, Psy.D, LPC online

I’m Jeff Marcino, Psy.D, LPC, a clinical psychologist / licensed professional counselor with 20 years of clinical experience. Long Point Counseling is my private practice, not a directory, app, or large therapy platform. When you reach out, your request comes directly to me, and I review it personally.

I hold advanced certifications in Relational Life Therapy for couples, The Daring Way™ for shame and vulnerability, and sex-addiction treatment. That background matters because my work is deliberately specialized rather than generalist-only. I help people with trauma and betrayal, couples dealing with chronic conflict or disconnection, and clients facing the secrecy, shame, and relationship fallout that often come with sex addiction. You can read more about my full range of therapy services, including trauma therapy and couples therapy.

Online, that translates into continuity, depth, and accountability. You are not re-explaining yourself to a new provider every few weeks. You work with one experienced clinician who can hold the bigger picture, notice patterns over time, and tell you the truth with care.

What online therapy is like

Sessions take place by secure video therapy. You can join from home, a private office, or another quiet location in South Carolina where you can speak freely. For many adults and couples, telehealth makes it easier to stay consistent because there is no commute, waiting room, or extra time away from work or family.

The initial appointment is designed to understand what is happening now, the relevant history, what you have already tried, what you want to change, and whether working together makes sense. I want to be clear and honest about fit from the beginning.

Ongoing therapy depends on your goals. It may focus on stabilizing overwhelm, understanding patterns, building coping skills, processing trauma, improving communication, addressing accountability, and turning insight into practical changes in daily life and relationships.

To make online therapy work well, choose a private setting, use a stable internet connection, and consider headphones if other people are nearby. Telehealth is not the best fit for every situation, especially if you cannot find privacy or you need emergency or higher-level care.

Online anywhere in South Carolina, with in-person care in Mount Pleasant

You can meet with me online from anywhere in South Carolina, including the Charleston area and communities across the rest of the state. I also offer in-person sessions in Mount Pleasant for clients in the greater Charleston area who prefer face-to-face care.

Many people choose telehealth because life is full: work demands, parenting, caregiving, travel, traffic, or long drives to find a therapist with meaningful depth in trauma or relationship work. Others simply appreciate the discretion of secure video therapy. In-person sessions can be a better fit if you feel more grounded in an office or live close enough to Mount Pleasant to make that easy.

If you are unsure which format fits best, we can talk it through. The right choice depends on privacy, practical logistics, the nature of the work, and what helps you show up consistently.

Fees, private-pay therapy, and how to get started

Long Point Counseling is a private-pay practice. Working outside of insurance keeps your care confidential and shaped entirely around your goals, never capped by session limits or diagnosis codes. I’m glad to talk through current fees directly, so the financial side is clear from the start. Private pay means I do not bill insurance, which can reduce insurance-driven requirements and allow the work to stay centered on your goals rather than a carrier’s rules.

New clients start by sending a brief, confidential request. I personally review each one, and the next step depends on fit and current availability. The process is straightforward and low-pressure.

If you would like to explore working together, you can request a confidential consultation. If this page felt relevant, that is enough of a first step.

If you are in immediate danger, feel unable to keep yourself safe, or need urgent help now, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Online therapy is meaningful care, but it is not emergency treatment.

Can I do online therapy from anywhere in South Carolina?

Yes. I offer secure online therapy to adults and couples anywhere in South Carolina, as long as you are physically in South Carolina at the time of the session. That includes Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Columbia, Greenville, smaller towns, and more rural areas. A private setting and reliable internet are the main practical requirements.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Often, yes. Research consistently shows telehealth can be as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns when the treatment is appropriate and the therapeutic relationship is solid. In practice, privacy, consistency, and clinical fit matter a great deal. In-person care may be better if you cannot speak privately, want the grounding of an office, or need emergency support.

Do you offer online couples therapy in South Carolina?

Yes. I provide online couples therapy in South Carolina, including work informed by Relational Life Therapy. Couples can usually join from the same room or, when appropriate, from separate private locations in South Carolina. The first appointment helps me understand the relationship pattern, each partner’s concerns, and whether online work is the right fit.

What are your fees, and do you take insurance?

Working outside of insurance keeps your care confidential and shaped entirely around your goals, never capped by session limits or diagnosis codes. I’m glad to talk through current fees directly, so the financial side is clear from the start. Long Point Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance. Some clients prefer that arrangement because it can reduce insurance-driven requirements, such as submitting a mental-health diagnosis, and gives us more freedom to focus on the work that fits their goals.

How do I get started with Long Point Counseling?

Start by sending a brief, confidential request through the booking page. I personally review each request rather than handing it off to a platform or intake team. If it looks like a potential fit and I have availability, the next step is scheduling an initial appointment and talking more specifically about what brings you in.

Is online therapy appropriate if I’m in crisis?

Usually not. Online therapy is valuable ongoing care, but it is not emergency treatment. If you are in immediate danger, feel unable to keep yourself safe, or need urgent help right now, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Once you are safe, telehealth can sometimes be part of longer-term recovery.
